For Families
Watching someone you love struggle is exhausting. You don't need them on the line to start. Call us, ask anything, and leave with a plan.

Starting the conversation
Lead with concern, not ultimatums.
Talk about specific things you have seen and how they worry you. Avoid labels like "addict" — they tend to end the conversation.
Pick a sober, calm moment.
Not during an argument, and not while they are drinking or using. A quiet morning usually goes better than a late night.
Have a next step ready.
Call us first so you already know the options and whether insurance covers detox. "I already called — can we talk to them together?" is easier to say yes to than an open-ended "you need help."
Expect it to take more than one talk.
A "no" today is not a "no" forever. Keep the door open and keep our number handy.
Confidentiality
Substance use treatment records are protected by HIPAA and by 42 CFR Part 2, one of the strictest privacy rules in healthcare. We cannot share anything about a client's care with an employer, or with family, without their written consent.
For many people, knowing this is what makes saying yes possible.
You're not alone in this
Family members carry a lot. Support groups like Al-Anon and Nar-Anon meet throughout South Florida, and you deserve support whether or not your loved one is ready.
